A very dehydrated 2 year old pit bull had been left on the scorching roof of a building in downtown Reading for at least 10 hours before it was discovered and brought to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.
“The pads on his feet are now completely burned off,” said Barrie A. Pease, president of the board of directors at the shelter. The dog had also burned its nipples, indicating that he tried to lay down to save his paws from the pain of the burning rooftop. The pup is well-behaved with a good disposition, suggesting that has an owner. However, officials have not been able to find the owner of the dog.
The vet was able to medicate his wounds and wrap up his paws, although it’s clear he is still in pain when he walks. Fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery.
