What in the world is going on in the pet food/treat industry????

I’ve spent a bit of time looking at this recently. As near as I can tell, the FDA is exerting some new found power. It seems any treat/food producer that uses meat is subject to FDA scrutiny. The folks at TruthAboutPetFood did an interesting post recently about the FDA vs. the USDA and how pet companies are held to a much higher standard than human meat facilities.
After all my research it seems pet treat/food manufacturers are getting screwed.
