If you are looking for a fun and easy way to tire your dog out, consider enrolling in the Intro to K9 Nose Work Class (scent detection for pets!), starting November 5th, 2012 and running for 5 weeks. Dogs and owners work as individual teams to search for a specific odor. While the class structure was not intended as a foundation program for professional detection work, it is patterned after the model used for working detection dogs.
Key benefits of this fascinating national sport include:
- dogs of any age or breed can play it
- doesn’t require a lot of space or equipment
- can be played any time and any place
- you don’t have to expend a lot of human energy
- no prior dog training required
- excellent for shy dogs or dogs that need some focus
- dogs LOVE it because it provides an outlet for their natural hunting & scenting abilities
The deets:
When: Mondays, starting November 5th for 5 weeks
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Where: Whole Animal Gym (WAG)
Location: 611 S. 2nd Street (plenty of street parking)
