While many fine pets can be found at dog breeders and dog kennels, most dog enthusiasts would agree that adopting through a dog rescue center is the way to go. Dog rescue centers take in unwanted pets, and, unfortunately, they take in many of them: the Humane Society estimates that between 6 and 8 million dogs and cats are taken in by animal shelters year. And the sad fact of the matter is that, due to lack of space and resources, about half of these animals are euthanized.
