Tanya Grant knows dogs. And she knows what it takes to be an excellent dog walker. Six years ago, she rescued a mixed breed dog named Sydney (who just loves playing with her Philly Phanatic stuffed toy). Although her background was in financial services, her love of and passion for animals pulled her in a different direction. She knew from her own experiences with Sydney that dogs have a critical need to get sufficient exercise. . . not just for their physical well-being, but for their emotional being as well. She also saw a need – with more people putting more time into their careers, dogs were being left home alone for extended periods of time – which makes for long 10-12 hour days. Tanya knew that there was a better way.
So, in 2005, she left the world of finance, took a deep breath, and launched Top Tails Pet Sitting for the Manayunk community. And it skyrocketed, fulfilling her passion of working with animals while carrying her dream of being a successful entrepeneur.
The success of Top Tails encouraged Tanya to offer her services elsewhere in the city as well – and so, Liberty Dog Walkers was born to help owners in the Rittenhouse Square area. Catering to every household, Liberty Dog Walkers offers dog walking in a variety of time block increments and assists with the daily responsibilities including walking, feeding, fresh water and lots of TLC (and a couple of treats if their owner gives OK!).
Tanya focused on theRittenhouse Square area because of what the community offers: Dogs can romp either in the tree-filled Rittenhouse Square Park or on the bustling sidewalks of center city. Furthermore, Rittenhouse Square Park is dedicated to keeping the park a popular dog walking destination for the local community, making it an ideal location for a walk. Besides being targeted to the Rittenhouse area, Liberty Dog Walkers is unique because it offers individual dog care. They provide one-on-one care – no “herd” or “pack” walks. Each walk includes a daily “report” card. You can rest assured that the walkers are well-trained, experienced dog care handlers – and the entire staff is Pet First Aid Certified through the American Red Cross. Liberty Dog Walkers is a licensed, bonded and insured business. Tanya personally hand selects and runs each walker through an extensive background screening which includes checking references. She is dedicated to hiring the best and most qualified dog lovers with the ultimate goal being each dog (and owner) having a memorable, positive experience.
Liberty Dog walkers also gives back to the local animal community, donating a portion of its profits to PAWS and the PSPCA every year.
