I was truly amazed at the sheer size of the daycare and by the state of the art facilities. There are indoor playrooms and a huge outdoor park for your dog to play and get exercise. There are also different levels of care you can sign up for. For example, you can have your pup spend the night in a regular crate or upgrade to an actual bed with a television to watch!
Best Friends Pet Care has thought of everything — from providing food that you can buy to a getting your dog groomed while he’s at daycare. I was also really impressed by how knowledgeable the staff was and it was clear that every staff member was a true animal lover.
But Best Friends Pet Care doesn’t just offer a daycare, boarding and grooming – they also offer training! The basic classes are Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Manners 1, Basic Manners 2, and Canine Good Citizen but you can even get private lessons. They also offer one and two-week Board & Train services, where your dog will be trained, one-on-one with their trainer, while boarding at Best Friends.
I left knowing that I’d have no problem leaving Dash at Best Friends. I’ve visited other daycares before and was disappointed either by the lack of cleanliness or by their excessive use of crates throughout the day. I’m convinced that if Dash spent the day at Best Friends, he’d come home one exhausted little dog!

I would stay away from this place. I would analogize this with doggie prison, at best.
I have on occassion picked up a someone else’s dog who stayed at this place and was APPAULED by their services. They keep your dog locked in a crate or pen all day and sometimes dont even let them out to pee – they have to pee in their sleeping quarters. And the basic boarding price doesnt include walks or outside playtime. When I picked up a bull dog, I took her outside immediately and she peed for the longest time Id ever seen her (and bull dogs can HOLD it for a long time). She obviously hadnt been out in a very very long while. There are no overnight attendants to as well, and no real one on one supervision at any time.
Try to find someone who boards (only a few) dogs in their home or who does one-on-one care in someone’s home. Just make sure they arent gone for most of the day, will give you personalized updates and they take the time to bond with your dog.
Google philadelphia dog “in home boarding” (in quotes) to find someone in your area. Just stay away from the corporate pet services.. they are too big to be able to provide personalized service.
